She may be mean and drunk, but audiences can’t help loving Jane Lynch’s Miss Hannigan. The Glee star stepped into the Tony-nominated revival of Annie on May 14 and gives a performance the musical’s creators said rivals the role’s Tony-winning originator Dorothy Loudon. With buzz like this, Broadway.com resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson made his way back to the Palace Theatre to see Lynch in action. Above, he captures the colorful new Miss Hannigan (Lynch) surrounded by her “little girls”: Lilla Crawford as Annie, Madi Rae DiPietro as July, Emily Rosenfeld as Molly, Taylor Richardson as Duffy, Georgi James as Pepper, Junah Jang as Tessie and Tyrah Skye Odoms as Kate. Don’t miss your chance to see Jane Lynch as Miss Hannigan in Annie, now through July 14.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
